WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. -- A Windsor Locks resident is asking police to investigate the vandalism of a lawn statue as a hate crime.
The Journal Inquirer of Manchester reports that someone decapitated Darlene Fraga's statue of the Virgin Mary on July 11 and replaced the head with a garden gnome.
Fraga's friend, Roger Cygan of Somers, this week offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. He told the newspaper that Fraga is very upset and views the vandalism as a hate crime.
Police Sgt. Frank Brown says police have no leads or suspects.
