FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County Police say that animal control officers investigated a report of a beaver chasing children at the Hidden Pond Nature Center on Saturday.
According to police, the children had completed a fishing competition when they saw a beaver swimming towards the dock they were on. The beaver then reportedly jumped out of the water onto the dock.

The beaver was "acting aggressively" and chasing the children, say police, but did not bite anyone.
An animal control officer was able to clear the area and shoot the beaver.
Due to another incident in the county in which an 83-year-old woman was bitten by a rabid beaver, this beaver was tested for rabies. On Tuesday, police found out the beaver had rabies.
Police also say a raccoon was reported acting strangely and walking towards people in the Lake Barcroft area on Sunday afternoon.
