SALT LAKE CITY - Police say a West Valley City man stole a truck while trying to stop a former girlfriend's wedding.
The Deseret News reports 30-year-old Andrew Marlin Curtis was waiting for a friend to take him to his ex-girlfriend on Jan. 18. Police say when the friend didn't show, Curtis stole a truck that was left running in a Midvale, Utah parking lot.
According to court records filed Thursday, Cutis told police he crashed the truck in a church parking lot, leaving behind the vehicle's license plate and bumper.
Police say Curtis returned the truck, telling police he stole it while trying to convince his ex-girlfriend not to get married, but she wouldn't speak to him.
Curtis is charged with unauthorized control of a vehicle. The truck's damage is estimated at $1,000.
