Ft. Myers, Florida -- A threatening message left on City Councilman Warren Wright’s voice mail on May 29 was actually a misdialed prank call from a 9-year-old Fort Myers resident, according to a Fort Myers Police Department memo.

On the message, the caller, who reportedly disguised his voice as a witch said “You’re going to die in seven days, (caller then laughed), bye-bye, see you in seven days sweetheart.”

An assistant to Wright originally provided police with a number that matched a number belonging to Good Wheels, but that number was off by one digit.

A Good Wheels driver who had the number originally thought to have been the source of the prank was suspended.

The correct number was later identified by the City of Fort Myers IT Department, and investigators identified it as belonging to the 9-year-old.

The 9-year-old admitted to making the prank call, but said he thought he was calling a friend’s number, which is one digit off from Wright’s office number.

There have been no charges filed in the case, and detectives do not believe the message was a valid threat to Wright.
