Australia airliner flooded in flight

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- A Qantas airways flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia, was forced to turn back Tuesday night after a water pipe started leaking.

One passenger said the water seeped through the floor and rained on passengers in economy class below. On the upper level it flowed like a stream down the aisle.

The Airbus 380 landed safely back at LAX and Qantas put passengers up in a hotel overnight.

In a media release, Qantas said "there were no safety of flight concerns with the water leak, however the captain decided to return to la in the interests of passenger comfort."
