Jacksonville, Florida -- The GEICO Camel Commercial craze continues to spread.
This time, there were real camels to ring in Jacksonville's Hump Day.
University of North Florida students celebrated the day this week with camel rides "galore" on Osprey Plaza at the Student Union.
Despite the stink, it was an opportunity students did not want to miss.
"They smelled like any other farm animal would, but it was worth it for the experience. It's not every day you get to ride a camel at school," said Kristen Logel, a UNF senior.
Logel said the rides are part of a weeklong event, Summer B Kickoff.
Summer B is half of a summer term. It's a time when many freshmen start classes before universities welcome their full student body in the fall.
UNF's Campus Life says the event schedule has more than free camel rides through "the 'deserts' of the Student Union." There are also cookouts, movies, massages and a pool party.
"It's a great way for all of the incoming freshmen to learn about UNF's resources. It's also a great way for them to meet other freshmen and upper classmen," Logel said.
