Woman with kids in tow accused of stealing Polk Co. Christmas decoration

MULBERRY, Fla. -- A woman was arrested after Polk County deputies say she stole Christmas decorations while walking  with two kids in Mulberry.

It happened on Monday.  Deputies say a Disney laser light projector was reported stolen from the back yard of a home on Ogden Drive.  When they went to check it out, they saw Lisa Register walking nearby with a projector in her arms, and two juveniles with her.

Deputies say when they asked her about it, Register said, “I didn’t mean to take it!”

They say when they first arrested her, she lied about her name, calling herself Lisa Spann, which they say was her name 20 years ago before she changed it.

Register was charged with unarmed burglary, petit theft, negligent child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, resisting without violence and giving false ID to a Law Enforcement Officer.  She also had an active warrant for failure to appear after a petit theft and attempted use of ID of a deceased person.

“The really sad thing about all of this is that she involved children. Not a good Christmas memory,” the Polk Co. Sheriff’s Office posted on their Facebook page.
