WESTON, Florida (AP) - Nearly 100 Broward deputies will be part of the security at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
The group will leave from Weston on Thursday to help with security as Republicans open their presidential nominating convention next week in Tampa.
A statement from the Broward Sheriff's Office says they are sending deputies trained in crowd control and managing civil unrest. BSO is sending the largest team among the state's sheriff's offices. The statement also says the department will be reimbursed for all expenses.
The deputies will meet in Pompano Beach and Tamarac before gathering in Weston for their final instructions and departure.
