More than 5,000 people walked, ran and dashed to raise money for cancer research at the Moffitt Cancer Center.

Cancer survivors, friends and family gathered bright and early at the USF Sundome parking lot.

100 percent of the money raised stays here in the Bay area.

Miles for Moffitt events kicked off at 7:00 a.m. and wrapped up with a special survivor celebration around 9:00 a.m. Heather and Reggie were honored to serve as emcees.

One local team walked in honor of Bunny Landis, a Moffitt Cancer patient who is fighting pancreatic cancer. Her team of more than 75 friends and family has raised more than $17,000 for cancer research.

Bunny's good friend, Donna Bevis, named the team "Bunny's Carats... because a CURE is a girl's best friend."

Bunny says her family and good friends are the true gems in her life. They've become sisters of her heart.

"They keep me strong... knowing that I have not been alone... not one minute of one day. I know that I have these girls by my side at all times. Through their love and support, that has given me the strength to sustain what I've gone through."

Bunny's team wore bunny ears and walked not only for Bunny, but also for all of the cancer patients who couldn't physically make it.

Bunny's friend Donna says, "Bunny lost the first round to cancer... everyone does when you're told you have cancer. The first round goes to cancer. She hasn't lost a round since. Miles for Moffitt is another victory. It's a round for everyone who has ever loved someone that's in that fight."
