According to investigators, five people on a bench at the bus stop were hit by a Ford Mustang GT after it went over the curb at the intersection of Bay Pines Boulevard and 100th Way North.
Pamela Kiely, 50, of Punta Gorda, was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg with serious injuries to her legs.
Four others: John Howard White, 59, of St. Pete; Russell Seals, 59, of Madeira Beach; Gregory K. Schnare, 54, of Madeira Beach; and Thomas Kiely, Pamela's husband, 59, were taken to Bayfront Medical Center with minor injuries.
According to investigators, witnesses told deputies that the driver, 55-year-old Charles Selvan, accelerated through the intersection of Bay Pines Boulevard and 100th Way in an apparent attempt to pass another vehicle when he jumped the curb and hit the bench.
Selvan, of Seminole, also also hit and knocked over a light pole next to the bus stop, before spinning to a stop.
Deputies say Pamela Keily may have been hit by the car due to the nature of her injuries.
Selvan cooperated with police at the scene and charges are pending.
