CLEARWATER BEACH, Florida - Sand castles, cheer-offs, and tug-of-wars highlight a weekend's worth of extracurricular activities surrounding Tampa Bay's Outback Bowl (Jan. 2, 1 p.m.).
The Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan State Spartans brought busloads of players, supporters, and fans with them to Tampa Bay and many are participating in Friday's Bowl Beach Bash at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort. The event runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to the public.
Another free event this weekend is Saturday evening's parade & pep rally down 7th Ave. in Ybor City. The UGA and MSU bands will participate as well as more than 20 marching bands from Tampa Bay.
On Sunday, the MSU and UGA marching bands will compete in a "Battle of the Bands" at Busch Gardens (park admission required). And Monday, a pregame party and pep rally takes place at Raymond James Stadium from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
