CARY, NC (WRAL/WBTV) - A man who had been known for years for playing Santa Claus had sex toys in the trunk of his "Santa Car" when arrested in mid-January, WRAL -TV reported citing search warrants in the case.
The man, John Thomas Peters, 70, of Cary was arrested at a McDonalds and is facing several child sex charges, police told WRAL.
The allegations include that he had inappropriate conversations with a 15-year-old girl online, police said.

According to WRAL, the teens mother called Apex Police and said Peters - whose nickname is "Santa John" -- had been contacting her daughter through a modeling website.
During a search of his red convertible with the tag "SantaCar" police found sex toys in the trunk of the sports car, according to search warrants obtained by WRAL.
Later, detectives also seized video equipment and computers from his car that they think was used to take "inappropriate" photos of children, the warrants say.
The mother went on tell WRAL that her daughter started a conversation with Peter's on December 29, who was using the screen name "Brad Taylor."
WRAL reported that the mother told detectives that Peters sent her daughter pornographic pictures and said he wanted to have sex with her.
Peters, of Crestpoint Court, is charged with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, solicitation of a child by computer or certain other electronic devices to commit an unlawful sex act and dissemination of obscene material to a minor under the age of 16 years, WRAL reported.
