Tampa, Florida -- Officials say they need 7,500 volunteers for this August's GOP convention in Tampa. The local Host Committee began signing-up people on Monday and volunteers must be at least 18-years old and agree to a background check.
Ken Jones, the president and CEO for the Tampa Bay Host Committee stresses you don't need to be a Republican to volunteer.
"This is not a Republican volunteer effort or a Democrat volunteer effort. This is a Tama Bay volunteer effort," he said.
Volunteers are needed for airport and hotel greeters, office administration assistants, event way-finders and even set-up crews.
