ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Pinellas County residents can safely discard unused or expired prescription medications during "Operation Medicine Cabinet."
The event is taking place Saturday afternoon at 14 sites throughout the county. A press release from the Sheriff's Office says the goal is to address the problem of prescription drug abuse. Residents can drop off their medications - no questions asked.
To date, Operation Medicine Cabinet events have collected over 6,000 pounds of medications.
This is the seventh installment of the event. It is being held in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Take Back Day.
