Brandon, Florida-- At least one teen of seven has died in a single vehicle crash in Brandon this afternoon.
Preliminary HCSO reports say that just before 3 p.m., 16-year old Michael Kryder was driving his father's 1998 Ford Explorer southbound on Kings Avenue, when he lost control and drove off the roadway.
Police say the vehicle overturned onto the driver's side and partially ejected 17-year-old Tyler Stich, who was not wearing his seat belt.
According to authorities, he was pinned underneath the vehicle, and emergency medical personnel declared him dead at the scene.
Stich was sitting on the left side of the middle row in the Explorer.
Aside from Kryder and Stich, five other passengers rode in the vehicle:
- Ashton Foster, 9, seated in front, right seat
- Jason Hamilton, 14, seated on right side of the middle row
- Darian Allor, 14, seated in middle seat of the middle row
- Daulton Lucas, 16, seated in rear cargo area
- Tykwuan Eddy , 17, seated in rear cargo area
According to HCSO investigators, Kryder was traveling at approximately 35 MPH. They saw no evidence of alcohol or drugs as a contributing factor, and Kryder voluntarily submitted to a blood draw for chemical testing.
At this time, police say they will not file any charges.
