Bartow, Florida -- Prosecutors in Polk County have announced they are seeking the death penalty against Jeremiah Fogle, who opened fire last September at the Greater Faith Christian Center Church in Lakeland after allegedly murdering his wife.

At the time, investigators said Fogle, 58, may have been holding a grudge against church leaders that dated back several years.
Records also showed it was not the first time Fogle has been charged with murder. In 1986, he was arrested for murdering his previous wife in Highlands County, but the charge was reduced to manslaughter, and Fogle was sentenced to 10 years probation.
This time around, Fogle is accused of killing his wife, Theresa, then heading to the Greater Faith Christian Church where witnesses say he shot Pastor William Boss as he was kneeling in prayer, and assistant minister Carl Stewart.
Stewart died in February.
No trial date has been set.
