BROOKSVILLE, Florida (AP) - A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his girlfriend's estranged husband.
A Hernando County judge sentenced 42-year-old William Siskos on Thursday. He was convicted in June of second-degree murder.
Authorities say Siskos was looking for his girlfriend, Kim Kasbach, at a neighbor's house in June 2010. He found her, but her husband, Joe Kasbach, was also there. A confrontation ensued between the two men, ending with Siskos shooting Joe Kasbach with a .22-caliber Ruger.
Siskos claimed that Kasbach hit him twice and was reaching for a weapon when he fired. A witness, who prosecutors say was friends with both men, testified that Kasbach never hit Siskos or pulled a weapon.
