TAMPA, Florida -- Deputies arrested a 31-year-old man on Sunday who they say brought a machete to protest at the Republican National Convention.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies spotted Jason Wilson around 2:15 p.m. walking into the event zone with a full-sized machete strapped to his leg. They reportedly ordered Wilson to stop, yet he continued walking away from them.
When deputies caught up to Wilson again, he allegedly told them he didn't have to stop and that he was allowed to carry whatever he wanted.
The deputies then attempted to physically stop WIlson, who allegedly began resisting and had to be physically restrained.
Wilson was arrested and taken to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
