Bradenton, FL - The Manatee Hurricanes, ranked the number one team in the nation, held off the Miami Central Rockets 44-34, keeping their record perfect at 3-0.
The Rockets began the year as the nation's top team, but lost that position, after a season opening loss to Grayson High School of Georgia.
Leading the way for the Canes was junior running back Trevon Walters, who finished with 227-yards of offense and two touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Cord Sandberg had another solid game, completing 19-30 passes for 227 yards and no interceptions, and added 42 yards rushing.
The Hurricanes, who have a bye this Friday, are now preparing to face one of their big local rival's, Bradenton Southeast.
