Winter Haven, Florida - It's happened again in Polk County: a person of authority accused of sexually molesting a teenager. This time the case involves a secretary of a religious high school and a 17-year-old student.
By all accounts, Trina Rocker was a model employee at Landmark Christian High School in Haines City. The 41-year-old mother of two spent time with hundreds of students over the course of two years.
One student in particular caught her eye, according to Polk County deputies.
He was a 17-year-old high school senior who graduated in May 2012. It just so happens that Rocker's alleged lover was in the same senior class last year as her own son.
"This is a bad shock, a bad situation, just bad," said the school's pastor, Mickey Carter. "We know the young man and the lady."
Pastor Mickey Carter has been at Landmark Christian School for more than 40 years and says he feels sick at these accusations. Polk County deputies arrested the 41-year-old school secretary on Tuesday afternoon after school on campus.
Rocker is accused of having sex with the teenage boy five times over the last several years. According to the arrest affidavit, Rocker and her alleged young lover had "sexual intercourse once in a laundry closet at a Holiday Inn in Richmond, Virginia" on the senior class trip.
The twosome is also accused of going "outside to a shed/garage...engaging in sexual intercourse."
The teenage boy told authorities that he and Rocker "pulled off HWY 60 near Bartow on a paved road and had sexual intercourse."
Then, it was revealed in the document that "the suspect performed oral sex on the victim once and then the victim performed oral sex on the suspect once."
The boy's parents discovered their relationship and confronted their son about his alleged sexual activity with the secretary. He admitted to it.
The father told Rocker on the telephone that "she could have avoided all this if she didn't screw" his son.
She said, "I know, I know."
Rocker and her husband, Shawn, have a longtime history together. They graduated from Landmark together more than 20 years ago. He is still Athletic Director there. In addition, this is where both families attend church, Rocker's and the victim's. Also, Rocker's teenage daughter is a sophomore at the high school.
The secretary, as well as other employees, are required to sign an "affidavit of good moral character," which is notarized. Employees are carefully vetted and made to promise that they will not engage in inappropriate behavior.
Rocker is said to still be behind bars. She and her husband reside in a gated community in Haines City. Their teenage son graduated last year from the high school.
Haines City, Florida -- A high school secretary was arrested Monday after detectives learned she was having a sexual relationship with a former student.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old Trina Rocker's relationship with the 17-year-old student began in November 2011 and ended in May 2012.
Police were alerted to the relationship after the student's parents found out and confronted their son. He then admitted to them about encounters which occurred while he was a student at Landmark Christian High School in Haines City.
Rocker's arrest report says they had sex several times, including in a car on the side of the road and in Rocker's shed. But it was during a class trip to Washington, D.C. that really stood out: Rocker was on the trip as a chaperone when the two allegedly had sex in a laundry closet at a Holiday Inn in Richmond, Virginia.
In another apparent bad decision, Rocker sent a text message to the student saying, "Didn't you like not using a condom?" and commented on how it would have been horrible if she got pregnant.
The student has since graduated and the relationship fizzled.
Rocker has been charged with five counts of Unlawful Sex with a Minor.
