Sarasota, Florida -- A Sarasota man was sentenced to life in prison for sexually battering a young girl he was caring for while dating her mother. He was also sentenced to 30 years for molesting a young boy during the same time frame.
The crimes took place about 10 years ago when the girl was 10 and 11 years old and the boy was 6 and 7 years old.

The trial against 42-year-old Melquiades Lopez-Tovar was held on Oct. 23 and 24. He was arrested on June 9.
