Two online petitions with a total of nearly 120,000 signatures are gaining steam. People signing the petitions are urging Walmart to stop selling guns.
The movement comes on the heels of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting where 26 people -- teachers and children -- were shot and killed before the shooter turned the gun on himself.

The Signon.org petition says in part:
"Wal-Mart can make a good-faith effort to help stop the kind of violence we saw in Newtown, CT: by joining Dick's Sporting Goods in voluntarily stopping sales of assault weapons, which belong in war, not in our communities."
The SumofUs.org petition reads in part:
"The AR-15 assault rifle has no place in our communities -- but as of last week, it's being sold in over 1,700 Walmarts around the country. Walmart removed the gun from its website, but not its actual stores, and it's still stocking other semi-automatic rifles. Will we need to wait until the next mass shooting for Walmart to take those guns off the shelves?"
