Plant Panthers coach Robert Weiner
Tampa, Florida -- Coach Robert Weiner will be staying at Plant High School after all.
USF Bulls head coach Willie Taggart made the announcement about Weiner's decision Tuesday morning. Last week, Weiner had told 10 News he was planning to leave Plant to become USF's wide receivers coach.
"Coach Weiner is a great coach and a man who will continue to do great things at Plant," Taggart said in a statement Tuesday. "We knew pulling him away from the young men in the Plant program would be very difficult for him, and we wish him continued tremendous success moving forward."
Weiner built the Plant Panthers program into a national powerhouse
over his nine seasons. Plant High School captured four class 8A state titles and
competed in five state championship contests since Weiner took over in
2004.
