A dog who was found in a junkyard with an arrow shot through her abdomen had to be put down.
TAMPA, Florida -- A dog found in a junkyard with an arrow shot through her abdomen had to be put down because of the severity of her injuries, according to Hillsborough County Animal Services.
Both Hillsborough County dispatchers and 10 News received several calls from people who saw the stray chocolate lab mix roaming around a junkyard at 4911 S. 31st. Ave. An arrow was sticking out of her side.
Investigators used food and traps to try to get access to her for medical treatment, but they say she was fearful of people and eventually had to be tranquilized.
During surgery at Animal Services on Saturday afternoon, they realized someone shot the 1-year-old dog with an arrow gun. The arrow punctured her abdomen, causing internal bleeding and infection that she could not recover from.
