Pensacola, Florida (PNJ) -- A 10-year-old boy, critically injured Tuesday evening while playing with a rope in West Pensacola, has died.
The child, identified as Brandon L. Bickley, accidentally hanged himself, according to authorities.
He
was found unresponsive in the 6300 block of Denver Avenue at about 5:15
p.m. Deputies said they found the child with a rope around his neck.
The
child was rushed to Sacred Heart Hospital where he was pronounced dead
around 3 a.m. today, a friend of the child's family told our partners the Pensacola NewsJournal.
The family was too distraught to comment at this point, the friend said.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Matt Baxter said first responders performed CPR before taking the child to the hospital.
Witnesses
told deputies they had seen the child playing with a rope which was
tied to a tree in a vacant lot prior to the incident, according to the
Sheriff's Office.
An investigation revealed that there
was no foul play in the child's death and the death has been ruled
accidental, a release from the Sheriff's Office states.
