COURTLAND TWP., Mich. (WZZM) -- A Michigan woman who says she was beaten with a crowbar and left for dead, described her ordeal Monday in court.

Pamela Brabo says her husband, Marshall, thought he had beaten her to death, but she was able to escape after he passed out from pills.

With the wounds still visible on her face and head, Pamela described the night she spent with her soon-to-be ex-husband of 33 years. Marshall had invited her to his home in Courtland Township, so they could talk about their divorce. She says they ate dinner and had sex. 

"There was no anger. None whatsoever," says Pamela.

She said the two laid in bed and talked. It wasn't until she got up to leave, that his demeanor changed.

"I heard him say he talked to his divorce attorney. (He said) 'I don't know how to tell you this, but we're both going to die tonight,'" Pamela recalled.

Pamela says Marshall got a crowbar and a wrench and hit her several times over the next two to three hours. "I was trying to say 'Marshall why are you hurting me?' He said, 'You son of a bitch, you think I'm going to pay for a divorce?'"

At one point Pamela said she pretended to have a seizure, then held her breath and acted like she was dead. "He wiped my face with a cloth. I could feel the bones moving in my face. It hurt so bad."

Finally, Pamela says Marshall took some pills and fell asleep. That's when she snuck out of the house and drove herself to a nearby McDonalds where she called for help. Marshall was later found passed out in his bed and taken to the hospital. Police also found a bloody crowbar and wrench in the home.

Judge Steven Servaas ruled that there was enough evidence for a trial and bound him over to circuit court. He will face a charge of assault with intent to murder.
