Venice, Florida -- Coast Guard crewmembers airlifted a man from a boat off the Venice coastline Thursday evening after he reportedly suffered a medical episode.
U.S. Coast Guard officials say a fellow boater contacted watchstanders around 6:35 p.m. saying a man was suffering from shortness of breath and chest pains.
A helicopter already in the air was diverted to their location about 100 miles offshore and the 46-year-old man was hoisted safely onto the chopper and taken to Tampa General Hospital for further care.
His condition is not known at this time.
