Fort Myers, Florida (News-Press) -- Lee County deputies Tased a Fort Myers man three times Saturday when deputies said he resisted arrest after stealing two $20 bills from a liquor store.

Scott Alan Drifka, 49, was arrested on a charge of resisting an officer without violence.

Lee County deputies received a call of a robbery in progress at the Foam and Fizz store at 4721 Palm Beach Boulevard, according to a sheriff's office report. When a deputy arrived, a man was holding the front door open and shouting, "he is still here."

Drifka then ran out of the store, and the deputy shouted at him to stop. Drifka continued running, and the deputy deployed his Taser at Drifka's back, according to the report.

Drifka fell to the ground, and the deputy shouted at him to put his hands behind his back. Drifka refused, and the deputy Tased him twice before Drifka complied.

The store owner said Drifka had snatched two $20 bills from the cash register, but tore both bills in the process. The deputy found two pieces of $20 bills in Drifka's hand.

The store owner declined to prosecute Drifka for robbery.
