PLYMOUTH Minn. (KARE11) - Some billboards across the Twin Cities metro have commuters talking. Officials at the Minnesota Department of
Health say that's the point.
"We don't want to cross that line, but we aren't afraid to step close to it," said Laura Friedenberg, an MDH educator.
One billboard features a "plumber's crack" with words "Cover Your
Butt" in big, bold letters. It's an edgy campaign with a serious
message.
"We want people to be talking about this," says Friedenberg. "It can
be an awkward thing to talk about, but hopefully they will see these and
get screened."
MDH officials say 2,200 Minnesotans will be diagnosed with colon
cancer and of those cases 700 could be fatal. They urge men and women
50-years an older to get a colonoscopy.
