PINELLAS CO., Florida -- The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office collected more than 1,500 pounds of unwanted prescription medications during Operation Medicine Cabinet.
The event was held at various locations around Pinellas County. It gives citizens an opportunity to safely discard unused or expired prescriptions.
The sheriff's office says Operation Medicine Cabinet is a multi-agency effort aimed at addressing the problem of prescription drug abuse.
This is the ninth year the sheriff's office held the event.
