Winter Haven, Florida -- Lake Wales Police are searching for three people who are believed to have passed multiple counterfeit $100 bills as real currency.
On August 7, at the Publix on East State Road 60, three subjects purchased a small amount of merchandise with the counterfeit bills and received real money in return.
Reportedly, when one of the subjects tried to use one of the counterfeit bills the cashier did not have enough money to make change so the manager was called.
After inspecting the $100 bills the manager realized it was counterfeit. The subject became nervous and left prior to law enforcement being notified.
Four other counterfeit $100 bills were passed at Publix and was passed at Sally's Beauty Supply.
