MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - One of three people reported missing after a fast-moving mudslide swept through Manitou Springs, Colo., has been found safe.
The Gazette reports the man who recently moved to the area was found Saturday, but crews are searching for the others who remain missing - 24-year-old Juston Travis and an unidentified woman witnesses saw clinging to a tree Friday night.
At least one person was killed in the slide, which also destroyed six houses and damaged more than 30 others.
The mudslide forced the closure of U.S. Highway 24 and flash flooding stranded vehicles in high water Friday night as heavy rain fell in an area burned by the Waldo Canyon Fire last year.
Police Chief Joe Ribeiro said all damaged buildings have been searched, but crews continue to sift through creek beds filled with debris.
