Crews remain on scene monitoring a fire after a gas line exploded near Erie, Illinois, around 11:30 last night.
CBS affiliate WHBF spoke with a spokesperson from Enterprise Productions, the company that owns the line, who tells us there are thousands of miles of gas line in the area. He adds the gas is a propane and ethanol mix.
There is no word on what caused the rupture of the line, crews are waiting for daylight to investigate the cause and repair the line.
37 people were evacuated when the explosion happened, all but two homes were allowed to return.
Firefighters tell WBHF that due to the number of gas lines in the area, they train yearly for this type of disaster and were ready to respond.
The roads surrounding the explosion remain closed.
