Tampa, Florida-- The Hillsborough County School Board has announced plans for a new elementary school, and they say they'd like the community's help in naming it.
School "A", as they're currently calling it, will be built in 2014 on East Shell Point Road, adjacent to Lennard High School in the Ruskin area.
Anyone wishing to nominate a name for the school should send their recommendation in writing to Chris Farkas, Area Leadership Director for Area 8, before 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9.
School Board officials say names submitted after the 9th will not be included in the packet of materials prepared for the school board to consider during their vote, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 24.
Those sending in suggestions are asked to stick to school board policy, which says schools are to be named for individuals who have rendered outstanding service to public education, or geographic locations.
They list U.S. presidents, school board members, educators, and outstanding citizens as examples.
