Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested a couple for obtaining pills by fraud.
In early July, a pharmacist contacted investigators about a possible fraudulent prescription for Shannon Moulton. The investigation revealed that over a period of 15 months, Moulton called-in and faxed dozens of fraudulent prescriptions to a variety of pharmacies to obtain some 1,760 Hydrocodone pills and additional doses of antibiotics.
According to reports, Moulton used the names and DEA numbers of doctors she had worked with at a dermatology office.
Moulton turned herself in to the Sarasota County Jail to face 52 charges, including Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, Obtaining a Legend Drug by Fraud and Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information.
Her husband Claiborne Moulton is facing 28 charges, including Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud and Principal to Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud.
