Avon Park, Florida -- A juvenile has been arrested after assaulting a staff member at the Avon Park Youth Academy.
According to reports, 17-year-old Zayroux Graham is a resident of the facility and was attempting to enter a building he was unauthorized to enter. While doing so, Graham was confronted by staff member, Paul McDonald, who told him he was not allowed to enter the area. Graham appeared to turn and walk away only to turn back and strike McDonald in the mouth. McDonald fell to the ground and did not fight back.
The PCSO deputy arrived and placed Graham under arrest. McDonald sustained a laceration to his lower lip but declined medical attention.
Graham was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center for processing. Graham was charged with Battery on Detention Staff.

Graham has been incarcerated at the Avon Park Youth Academy since January 2013 for carrying a concealed Firearm.
Graham has also been identified as one of the youths who actively participated in the August 17th riot which occurred at the Youth Academy facility. Graham was among the 64 juveniles transported to the PCSO South County Jail in Frostproof in state custody under the supervision of G4S after the riot.
PCSO detectives will work with the State Attorney's Office and request Graham be prosecuted as an adult.
