Land O'Lakes, Florida -- A nurse who worked at the Pasco County Sheriff's Office is accused of illegally accessing the work email accounts of several employees, including Sheriff Chris Nocco.
Investigators say 24-year-old Diedre Devonne Fitzgerald used a laptop in the nurse's station to access the password-protected email accounts of higher-ranking agency members. Fitzgerald even boasted and demonstrated to co-workers how she did it from her own email, according to her arrest report.
When interviewed, Fitzgerald reportedly admitted to accessing the emails to gain information on confidential agency material.
She was arrested and charged with three counts of Crimes Against a Computer User and was fired from her job.
"The Pasco Sheriff's Office will hold its members accountable for their actions. The integrity of our agency is critical in maintaining a high level of trust with our citizens who we serve," Sheriff Nocco said in a statement to 10 News.
Fitzgerald had worked at the Sheriff's Office for nearly two years.
