ORMOND BEACH, Florida - A 17-year-old boy was attacked by a shark Monday afternoon in the waters off Ormond Beach, Volusia County officials said.
The teen, 17-year-old Raushod Floyd from Daytona Beach was bitten on his shoulder and taken to a hospital after the attack, which occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of State Road A1A and Granada.
Floyd and some of his teammates were cooling off in the water when a shark reportedly knocked the teen under his chin and then bit down on his shoulder.
He received 30 stitches in his shoulder where the shark got a hold of him.
Meanwhile, a 9-year-old boy was bitten by a shark Sunday in St. Augustine. He was taken to a hospital for stitches but was expected to be OK.
