Tampa, Florida -- A man wanted in a series of ATM robberies over Labor Day weekend has been caught, according to Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies.
Early this morning, deputies on routine patrol spotted a vehicle at a RaceTrac gas station on Bearss Avenue that matched the make and model of an SUV used in a Bank of America ATM robbery in the same area on Sept. 2. The driver of the SUV also matched the description of the man wanted in the robbery.
Detectives positively identified the driver, Charles Griffin, as the same person seen in the surveillance photo from the Bank of America robbery on Sept. 2 at 1:35 p.m.
He was also identified in the attempted robbery of another ATM customer at the Bank of America on Bearss Avenue early Tuesday morning and an ATM robbery of a Chase Bank customer on Fletcher Avenue on the night of Sept. 1.
Authorities say Griffin is also a suspect in at least two other recent ATM robberies in the same area and detectives are asking for anyone who may have knowledge of Griffin or who may have been victimized by him, to please call HCSO Corporal Bruce Metzger at 813-247-0623.
Griffin was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail with additional charges pending.
