Manatee County, Florida -- Six men were arrested Saturday evening at Ellenton Mall after robbing a store and holding two clerks hostage.
Six men from Orlando, suspected of committing several armed robberies in outlet malls in the Orlando area, made their way to Manatee County Saturday evening. Law enforcement received information that the suspects were be heading towards Manatee County and patrols were increased at the Ellenton Malls.
At around closing on Saturday evening, the suspects were spotted at the Ellenton Mall.
At approximately 9:40 pm, the clerks at the Nike store began to exit the front door and set the alarm. Two of the suspects, Keenan Davis and Kelsey Coffey then rushed the doorway and pushed the clerks back inside the store. The male clerk was immediately struck in the head and the female clerk was physically secured, both clerks were then physically restrained with zip ties. Coffey implied he had a handgun and forced the clerks to open the safe and an undetermined amount of cash was stolen. The clerks did not suffer any serious injuries.
Davis and Coffee started to walk across the parking lot while the other suspects entered the getaway vehicle and began to drive towards the exit. The Winter Haven Police Department was then able to stop the vehicle and the suspects on foot.
Six men were arrested and charged with armed robbery while Coffee and Davis received additional charges of false imprisonment.
