Wimauma, Florida -- A convicted felon prohibited from carrying a firearm was arrested after he accidentally shot himself in the leg.
On September 9, Mark Cruz was shot in the leg when his gun fell out of his pocket and discharged after hitting the ground. While being treated at South bay Hospital he was uncooperative when deputies questioned him about the incident. Eventually, Cruz admitted accidentally shot himself and then tossed the gun in an unnamed lake.
Cruz was released from South Bay Hospital and taken to the Hillsborough County Jail where he was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and tampering with physical evidence.
