Clearwater, Florida-- A crime scene investigation is currently underway after a man's dead body was found in the parking lot of a local, out-of-business gas station.
According to Clearwater Police, someone called to report the death just before 3:45 Monday afternoon after walking through the parking lot and spotting the body.
They say the man, who may be homeless appears to have died from upper body trauma. They have not yet identified him, and they are unsure how long he has been dead.
The gas station, which has apparently been closed for some time, is between two fast food restaurants, a McDonald's and a Taco Bell, on the 1800 block of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. It is also not far from Clearwater High School.
Clearwater homicide detectives, representatives of the Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office and forensics investigators from the Pinellas County Sheriff's office are on scene.
