CARROLLWOOD, Florida -- A Hillsborough County man is in custody after allegedly barricading himself inside a home in Carrollwood following a domestic incident.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says when a deputy arrived at the home on Cypress Ridge Place and Country Run Road Saturday afternoon, the deputy saw 38-year-old James Fullwood II leaving the neighborhood in his vehicle. When Fullwood noticed the deputy following him, he allegedly drove back to a home on Cypress Ridge Place and ran inside with a firearm in his hand.
Once inside, Fullwood reportedly closed all of the blinds and locked the doors. The sheriff's office says Fullwood indicated to a patrol supervisor over the phone that he wanted to take his own life.
A SWAT team was called out to the scene. Eight nearby homes were evacuated while crisis negotiators contacted Fullwood and talked him into coming out of the home. He was arrested and will be Baker Acted.
According to the victim, Fullwood's girlfriend, he held her at gunpoint inside her home during an argument and threatened to kill her and then himself. He is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, domestic violence-battery, false imprisonment, and fleeing to elude.
