Lake Wales, Florida -- Lake Wales Police officers are asking for the public's help locating a violent man who stabbed another repeatedly during a fight on the night of Sept. 21.
Police say witnesses told them Steven Rios and the other man were together earlier in the evening and seemed to be getting along, until the man got out of Rios' car and the two got into an argument in the 300 block of Townsend Avenue.
Witnesses say Rios then stabbed the unidentified man and they overheard the man yelling for help. When they tried to help stop the attack, they say Rios went after them and threatened to harm them if they didn't back off. The witnesses say he also threatened to hurt them if they told police or anyone else, which is why they waited to report the crime.
Last they saw, Rios was pulling the man into his vehicle after he was no longer moving. His car is described as a gray in color 2010 Hyundai Sonata with FL license plate 114 NBA.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Rios on two counts of tampering with witnesses. He has not been found and should be considered armed and dangerous.
The victim in this incident has not been found at this time and his condition is not known. He is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build, between 30-35 years old and was last seen wearing a red Echo shirt with blue shorts.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detective Bill Raebig at 863-678-4223, ext. 264 or Heartland Crime Stoppers at 800-226-8477.
