Mulberry, Florida -- A precautionary boil water notice has been issued to customers in the Imperial Lakes subdivision in Bartow.
Polk County Utilities says the notice also affects customers from Shepherd Road north on Old Highway 37 to Cherry Lane and west to Lunn Road (both Lunn roads).
Properties affected will be contacted by the reverse 9-1-1 system.
The notice effects approximately 3,900 service connections and is the result of a large water main break.
As a precaution, all water users should drink bottled water and/or boil water to a rolling boil for at least one minute for cooking or drinking.
The notice remains in effect until ongoing water sampling analysis is completed. Polk County Utilities will issue notice rescinding this precautionary measure once satisfactory results have been confirmed (normally after 48 hours).
As a further precaution, the water lines in this area will be flushed.
