A small plane in Illinois crashed into a tree, light pole and several vehicles near a Chase Bank on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013.
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say one person was killed and another injured when a small plane crashed in suburban Chicago.
Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neil says a woman aboard the single-engine aircraft was killed Wednesday when it slammed into a parking lot outside a bank in Bolingbrook. O'Neil says her name is being withheld until a Thursday autopsy establishes a positive identification and relatives are notified.
A man was hospitalized at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with burns. His condition isn't known.
Bolingbrook Police Lt. Michael Rompa says the victims are believed to be the plane's pilot and passenger. Photos from the scene showed the plane on fire, with smoke billowing from wrecked autos.
The crash was near the single runway Clow Airport. Rompa said the plane was headed toward the airport.
