Tampa, Florida -- A man walking down the middle of the tracks approaching Highway 201 died Wednesday.
Around 5:50 p.m. on September 25 Dwight Hamilton was walking west down the middle of the tracks approaching Hwy 301. The train engineer saw Hamilton and activated the train horn in an attempt to alert Hamilton.
According to reports, Hamilton appeared to step off of the track, turned around and looked at the train. At the last minute, he turned back into the train and was struck.
On September 23, 2013, Hamilton's daughter reported him missing after he didn't meet up with her at the bus stop after church as they had planned.
Upon further investigation, detectives learned that a witness observed Hamilton walking and dancing in the middle of the tracks earlier in the day. Detectives are unsure if this was a suicide or an accident because Hamilton suffers from dementia.
