Tampa, Florida -- Jesuit High School president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. recently announced a gift of $1 million from The Gonzmart Family for the advancement of the school's strategic plan.
"Jesuit High School has been blessed with many wonderful benefactors, and among the most extraordinary have been the Gonzmarts,'' Hermes said. "Through the years, Richard Gonzmart, Casey Gonzmart, and The Columbia Restaurant have been tremendous supporters. Their remarkable leadership is a blessing to our community as Jesuit continually strives to fulfill its mission."
The historic $1 million gift is in addition to The Gonzmart Family's many other contributions to Jesuit, including being the premier sponsor of the annual Fr. Richard G. Hartnett Memorial Golf Classic, an event which directly benefits Jesuit students on financial aid, and establishing an annual scholarship that allows a current student on financial aid to attend Jesuit.
For generations, The Gonzmart Family has owned the iconic Tampa establishment The Columbia Restaurant, and been connected to Jesuit. Jesuit will honor The Gonzmart Family and celebrate their exceptional contributions on Oct. 11 during halftime ceremonies of the Jesuit football game.
