Dade City, Florida -- An elderly woman is accused of stealing more than $34,000 from a family friend who suffered from Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
87-year-old Lilillan Lothrop is charged with grand theft from a person 65 years or older, which is a second degree felony.
Dade City police say she got the 85-year-old victim to write her checks over a six month period. The victim's brother found out what happened while trying to reconcile the victim's bank accounts.
Lothrop is currently being held on $15,000 bond at the Land O'Lakes Detention Center.
