Melbourne, Florida -- If your out walking your cat, regardless of whether its disabled or not, make sure its on a leash. That's the expensive lesson one Melbourne woman learned while taking her wheelchair-bound cat for a stroll Tuesday.
Yvonne Steel told WESH Orlando she had to replace her cat's back legs with wheels because they don't work at all.
During Pooh Bear's daily walk with Steel at a local park, she was caught by Brevard County Animal Services for not having Pool Bear and her Chihuahua, McKenzie, on a leash -- and for a rabies shot violation. She was fined a total of $230.
Animal Services defended its fines saying Steel had been warned in the past that it was not legal to have your pets off a leash when it's off your property, even it's disabled.
